CAIRO - 26 May 2019: The Egyptian Opera House, headed by Magdy Saber, concludes its Ramadan program with an evening for the Egyptian Moulouya band, led by vocalist/reciter Amer el-Touny.

The Sufi concert is set to be performed on May 27 at 9:30 p.m. in the Open Theater. The concert includes an artistic mix that is considered one of the colors of Egyptian heritage, where the famous tanoura dance is combined with religious songs and prayers, reflecting a unique case of Sufism.

It is noteworthy that the Moulouwiya folkloric art originated from one of the Sunni Sufi methods founded by Sheikh Jalal al-Din al-Rumi, which entered Egypt with the Ottoman conquest and was dubbed “The Darwish Theater”. The Egyptian Moulouya band was founded by Amer el-Touni in 1994 with the aim of shedding light on the Egyptian heritage and spreading it around the world, emphasizing the specificity of the Egyptian culture and arts.
