CAIRO - 1 May 2019: The fifth edition of Faten Hamama International Film Festival was held for the first time in London. The fifth edition of the festival hosted audiences from different nationalities to see the shows and films.

Magy Anwar, the director of the festival, stated that the audience praised the quality of the presented Egyptian films and were happy to be more exposed to the Egyptian culture and traditions.

The judging panel, composed of Tunisian actress Durra, British producer Carl Toni, Italian producer Cleofas Adrian, Spanish director Joan Vera and Egyptian director Karim Hanafi, declared the winning films.

The Best Short Feature Award went to Egyptian director Alaa Khaled's “El Tagreba Asef”, the Argentinean film "Acha Acha" by Mario Piazza was awarded the Long Feature Film Award and the Jury Award was granted to the film "Un agujero en el Muro" by director Carlos Mori.

It is noteworthy that late documentary director Attiyat al-Abnoudi and late director Ali Reda were honored during the fifth edition of Faten Hamama International Film Festival. A short documentary illustrating Reda's life and narrated by his wife Farida Fahmi screened in the festival.

Also, the film “Karnak” screened during the festival with English subtitles.

The festival was held in London and parallel screenings of the participating films were held at the 1718 Cultural Center in Cairo.
