CAIRO - 4 April 2019: Iconic Egyptian writer and thinker Ahmed Kamal Abul Majd passed away on April 3 at the age of 89.

The Egyptian thinker held several positions in the National Council for Human Rights and the Islamic Research Center in Al-Azhar. Abul-Majd also wrote many books in law.

The late thinker is credited for contributing in the foundation of the most powerful political youth organization known in Egypt in the 1960s and early 1970s. He led the youth organization, which provided Egyptian political cadres that later held ministerial, political and diplomatic positions.

Al-Azhar mourned the late thinker, asserting that he was known for his wisdom, and the abundance of his intellectual and legal productions, and affirming that the late thinker gave the Arabic and Islamic library numerous valuable books.
