CAIRO - 27 March 2019: The Saudi Tourism Authority revealed an important surprise at the Kingdom's exhibition held in the Greek city of Athens.

The surprise revealed by Saudi Arabia in cooperation with Greece is the display of the famous statues of Heracles and Harpocrates found in the village of Faw, the capital of the ancient kingdom of Kindah.

The ancient statues expose the historical ties between the Saudi Arabian, ancient Greek and Byzantine civilizations. The statues were appreciated by many spectators as both portray great figures of the ancient Greek civilization.

Moreover, the official page of the Saudi Embassy in Cairo published pictures of the statues that were unveiled at the exhibition, which ran until May 26.

Qaryat Al-Faw was the capital of the first Kindah kingdom. It is located about 100 km south of Wadi ad-Dawasir, and about 700 km southwest of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

Al-Faw archeological site comprises various residential houses, markets, roads, cemeteries, temples, and water wells.
