CAIRO - 11 March: Head of the Egyptian Actors Union Ashraf Zaki called on the Egyptian government to fund cinematic and dramatic works that glorify the sacrifices of the Egyptian police and army.

“Since Raafat el-Hagan series, no dramatic works have been presented to glorify our national heroes. Today, we have many heroes to glorify and we should do so to present them as idols to our youth,” stated Zaki on “El-Hayat el-Youm” program aired on Al-Hayat channel.

Zaki praised the activities of the 30th educational seminar of the Armed Forces in which he attended, stating “While I was attending the seminar, I was deeply touched by the families of the martyrs; they made me and other attendees cry.”

In addition, Zaki expressed his respect and great appreciation of the Armed Forces and police. "I am proud of these heroes who sacrifice their lives for Egypt," he said.

On March 9 of every year, Egypt’s government celebrates the Martyr's Day to commemorate the martyrdom of late Major General of the Egyptian army, Abdel Moneim Riad.
