CAIRO - 5 January 2019: The 11th edition of the Arab Theater Festival management announced that it will honor 25 Egyptian theatrical icons who enriched the theatrical scene in Egypt.

The honorees are the veteran actor Yehia el Fakharany, the great actress dubbed the lady of the Arab Theater Samiha Ayoub, the veteran actor Mahmoud Yassin, the renowned theatrical directors Galal el Sharkawy and Fahmy el Kholy, the renowned theatrical critic Amal Bakir, the great comedian Samir Ghanem, the great theatrical writer Lenein el Ramly in addition to the veteran actors: Samira Abdel Aziz, Ezzat el Alaily, Rashwan Tawfeek, Sanna Shafea, Sohair el Morshedy, Mahmoud el Hedeny, Ashraf Abdel Ghaffour among others.

The Arab Authority for Theater is set to organize a press conference in the Supreme Council of Culture on January 6 to expose details about the 11th edition of the Arab Theater Festival.

The 11th edition of the Arab Theater Festival is set to be hosted in Cairo under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and will run from January 11-16, 2019.

Emirati playwright Ismail Abdallah, the secretary general for the Arab Authority for Theater; Head of the Higher Committee of the festival, director Khaled Galal; and director Ghanam Ghanam will attend the press conference.

The festival is hosted by a different Arab country each year, which gives each country the privilege of hosting such an important artistic event that unites all Arab nations, allowing artistic and social exchange between their cultures.

The festival's 11th edition comes in light of the theatrical development initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture and the Arab Theater Authority in 2015-2016 in Riyadh and Tunisia, aiming to enlighten and educate playwrights to develop the art of theater in Egypt.

The festival's 11th edition will focus on all theatrical artistic categories. A creativity conference will be held, among numerous other workshops, book discussions and photography exhibitions.
