CAIRO – 1 January 2019: Famed Egyptian belly dancer and actress Fifi Abdou, 65, went back to dancing in public concerts after a hiatus of more than 15 years.

Abdou’s first concert was on December 31 at Nile Ritz Carlton hotel.

Abdou, who was born on May 26, 1953, appeared for the first time in 1970. She is considered to be the most famous belly dancer in the past three decades.

As an actor she has participated in several movies and TV series such as "Assela", "El-Ha'eaa wel Sarab" (The Truth and Illusions), "Azhar", and "Ya Ana Ya Enty" (Either You or Me).

For many years, Abdou was regarded as Egypt’s first dancer, until she retired and started to concentrate solely on acting. Abdou is active on social media, especially Instagram, where she uploads dance videos from home.

Abdou held a press conference last December and announced that she will get back to dancing in public parties because she misses her audience and wants to directly interact with them.
