CAIRO - 21 April 2017: In its final few days, Egyptian Visions, an art exhibition in collaboration with the Egyptian Embassy in Kiev, Picasso East Art Gallery and the Kyiv History Museum, marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Ukrainian and Egyptian diplomatic relations.

The Egyptian Visions exhibition serves as one more bridge of collaboration between Egypt and the Ukraine, aimed at consolidating cultural understanding between the two nations.

This is the first time that selected works by famous Egyptian masters, including Mounir Escander, Gergis Lotfi, Gamil Shafik, Hasan Abd Elfatah, Aayed Saad Eddin, Karim Abd El Malak and Hasan Rashed, are shown at Kyiv.

The 40 works were carefully chosen to represent and embody Egyptian traditions, values, culture and beliefs and portrayed the daily life of Egypt’s unique and rich culture.

The official opening of the event, which was hosted by the Egyptian Embassy earlier this month, was attended by a number of Arab ambassadors, including those of Algeria, Sudan, Palestine, Kuwait, Syria and the UAE, in addition to diplomats from Pakistan, Malaysia and Brazil. Representatives of the Egyptian community in Ukraine were also present.

In his welcoming remarks Egypt’s Ambassador Dr. Hossam Eldeen Mohamed Aly explained to attendees that the works were selected “to expose Ukrainian visitors to the rich representation of Egyptian contemporary visual art and allow them to dive into its magical artistic world, embodying Egyptian traditions, culture and beliefs.” Aly called on Ukrainians who regularly travel to Egypt for its beaches and historical sites to visit art museums in Cairo and elsewhere in the country on their future trips.

The opening reception included a performance of Nubian and Upper Egyptian dances. Egyptian Visions runs through April 23.
