CAIRO – 18 April 2017: As a part of promoting Tourism via celebrity status, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism is currently negotiating with Latin-American actress Salma Hayek to visit Egypt this month, Al monitor reported on Sunday.

Egypt has been witnessing visits by a number of celebrities since the beginning of 2017, such as Hollywood actor Will Smith and international soccer players Lionel Messi and Ryan Giggs.

The Ministry of Tourism has been publicly using the tactic of attracting mega stars to visit Egypt in order to increase tourist revenues and prove to the world that Egypt is still safe for tourists.

Egypt’s tourism industry has been suffering ever since the revolution in 2011.Since then, the Tourism Ministry has been working to increase tourism revenues, one of the economy’s main of foreign currency earners.

Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone is set to visit Egypt, along with his family, in April. Also this month, Pope Francis will visit Egypt in response to an invitation from President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on April 28-29.
