CAIRO – 11 April 2017: The Ministry of Antiquities announced the renovation of Tanta Museum after 16 years of negligence,

Wa’ad Abu Alaa, head of the project sector at the Ministry of Antiquities, announced that the renovation of the museum will take place after examining the current state of the museum and analyzing the needed budget for the renovation process.

The museum, located in Tanta, a city near the Nile Delta, is the only museum in the city and used to be one of its popular attractions. The museum was founded in 1990 and contained various ancient artifacts dating back to the Ancient Egyptian, Islamic, Christian, and Greco-Roman eras yet it was closed for renovation 10 years after its opening.
