CAIRO – 13 December 2017: American drama film “Killer of Sheep” will screen at Cimatheque on December 17.

Directed and written by Charles Burnett, “Killer of Sheep” sheds light on African-American society in Watts, LA. The film revolves around a slaughterhouse worker called Stan; he tries to overcome his hatred of his work.

“Killer of Sheep” stars Henry G. Sanders, Kaycee Moore, Charles Bracy, and Angela Burnett.

Although it was first released in 1978, the film had a reissue in 2007 after it was converted from a 16 millimeter to a 35 millimeter print.

It was selected by National Film Preservation Board as National Film Registry in 1980, and it won a special award from the New York Film Critics Circle Awards in 2007.
