CAIRO – 13 December 2017: L’Institut Français d'Archéologie Orientale (IFAO) du Caire (French Institute of Oriental Archaeology in Cairo) will be hosting a conference to review the “Arabian Nights” manuscripts on Wednesday.

The conference includes a talk and presentation of the Egyptian manuscripts of the original stories in the "One Thousand and One Nights." These manuscripts were recorded in Egypt and are composed of four manuscript volumes that were copied down in the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century.

The review gives an overview of the manuscripts from an archaeological perspective. IFAO invites archaeology enthusiasts and people interested in oriental history to attend; the conference will be followed by an open discussion, a question session and cocktails.

IFAO is a French public research institute that was created in 1880 and researches Egyptian archaeology, history, and languages. Its mission is to study the cultures that formed the Egyptian civilization through the ages. The institute is part of a network of French schools across the world and is supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.
