CAIRO – 8 December 2017: Netflix plans to adapt the science-fiction novel “Old Man’s War” by John Scalzi into a ‘Netflix Original’ film for their streaming platform.

Published in 2006, “Old Man’s War” is set far in the future, where senior citizens can choose to be enlisted into a space war and have their minds uploaded into powerful, young new bodies, in exchange for fighting aliens.

The story follows John Perry, a 75 year old widower who revels in his new life as a powerful space marine. He discovers a bizarre secret when he encounters a soldier who resembles his wife when she was young.

Nominated for a Hugo Award, “Old Man’s War” was the first in a series of six books. The Netflix adaptation will be produced by Jon Shestack Productions and Madhouse Entertainment.

If successful, the film could prove to be a brand new original franchise for Netflix, with an entire universe of content for them to adapt.
