CAIRO – 23 November 2017: Sidi Ali Zein El-Abdeen shrine’s renovation is still in progress, according to an official press statement released on the Ministry of Antiquities’ official Facebook page.

Ahmed Abdel Latif, head of the Coptic and Islamic Antiquities Sector, stated that the shrine has suffered extensive damages, specifically in the wooden cabin.

Fixing the wooden cabin includes restoring copper and marble pieces of the shrine.

He also added that the shrine will be reopened in January after finishing the required restoration work which was started in May.

Recently, the Ministry of Antiquities put forth tremendous effort in restoration projects, in addition to increasing the number of archaeological missions all over Egypt.
