CAIRO – 21 October 2017: The Fine Art Society will be hosting an exhibition showcasing the artwork of Eileen Cooper, in association with the English National Ballet, based on Akram Khan’s vision of the classic ballet “Giselle”.

Running from October 30 until November 21, the exhibition helps display how artists can be inspired by one another. Cooper’s paintings draw on the energy of the dancers within Khan’s ballet, and she is inspired by the elegant, floating figures. The paintings featured in this exhibition are all directly inspired by “Giselle”.

Khan, a talented Bangladeshi dancer and choreographer, produced his own interpretation of “Giselle”, the classic ballet that tells a romantic story between a peasant girl and a disguised rich boy, and updates the story for a more contemporary setting based on issues such as the migrant crisis.
