CAIRO - 1 October 2017: Cairo Opera House will present the famous “Norma” opera on Saturday, October 7, in the Small Hall at 7 p.m. “Norma” was written by the great Vincenzo Bellini in 1831, and has become a part of the American Metropolitan Opera shows.

The opening of the Metropolitan Opera season will kick off on Monday.

“Norma” is Bellini's greatest opera. It is enriched with political and social themes and projections that still exist; discussing the devastating impact of the mistaken interplay between culture, society and clergy. Cairo Opera House will continue presenting the Metropolitan Opera shows according to the protocol signed between them.

Bellini is one of three great Italian authors of the opera, "Bel Canto," which is an Italian musical term that means, "the art and science of sound techniques," or the style of beautiful singing. ”Bel Canto” originated in Italy during the late 17th century and reached its peak in the early 19th century.
