CAIRO – 12 September 2017: Sharjah Institute of Heritage (SIH) selected Kuwait to be the guest of honor in the 17th edition of the Sharjah International Narrator Forum (SINF), which will start on September 17, SIH stated on Instagram.

The forum, which is held this year under the slogan “Saga & Epics”, will offer fans of heritage and folk tales a chance to meet various narrators and storytelling-specialists, adding to a range of activities that will be held across different locations through the three days of the festival, Sharjah 24 reported.

SINF consists of a rich and abundant program, as well as distinct events. Some of them are intellectual symposia dealing with old Arabic narration, an exhibition of book bindings, and a workshop on innovation writing under the title "Writing with the Pictures", which will be in Arabic and English. It also includes, the “round table" event, which includes experiences and testimonies in the oral narrative arts, and various events such as folktales and others, according to SINF website.

Sharjah Heritage Institute Chairman and Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam said, “Every year through the previous editions of SINF, there was a guest of honor, and this year Kuwait was chosen for its impressive contributions to the promotion of narration, which will be an added value to the festival,” the SIH statement added.

A number of workshops under the same theme of the forum are being held prior to the festival, like “Therapy by Narration” that was held on Tuesday by Namr Salmon, who gave participants some training on character analysis to help them speak out without being shy about their sufferings.

Sharjah International Narrator Forum was originally founded in 2001 as “Narrator's Day” and is aimed at celebrating and rewarding local bearers of the intangible human heritage, Khaleej Times reported in 2016.

SINF is organized by Sharjah Institute of Heritage, one of the cultural foundations in the government of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
