26th Theater Club Festival kicks off in several governorates

CAIRO – 11 September 2017: President of the General Authority for Cultural Palaces inaugurated the 26th Theater Club Festival in Agouza on Sunday, which will be running between September 10 and September 22.

Launched by the General Authority of Theater, the

festival

seeks to explore young theatrical performers in different branches of theater. The opening ceremony has been inaugurated by the play “Masrhna Nawady” (Our Theaters are Clubs), which is directed by Mohamed Eshry and revolves around the different experiences of club theaters.

The official competition running in the festival will feature “Tae’r” (Bird) by playwright Mahmoud Gamal and directed by Omar Hussein. The play revolves around a mute boy who visits a poor village and tries to spread hope among its people, encouraging change; however, with a plot twist.

Festival director and artist Shazly Farah has announced that this edition comprises of 23 performances that will be displayed across 16 governorates, including Matrouh Theater Club, which will be participating for the first time, according to a statement by the General Organization of Cultural Palaces.
