CAIRO – 25 August 2017: The Bibliotheca Alexandrina's Manuscripts Center will be holding several advanced courses on Sufi book editing, starting from on November 12-16 at the Multipurpose Hall.

This comes as part of BA's effort to recognize and preserve Sufism's impact on Islamic and Arabic culture. Sufism is a mystic sect within Islam that aims to recognize God's divine love directly through personal experience. It is referred to as Taṣawwuf in Arabic, and emphasizes spiritual ascetic living over more material worldliness in order to reach a closer connection to both the spirit and God.

The courses will involve careful critical analysis and publishing of Sufi manuscripts, and is aimed towards MA and PHD students specialized in Sufi and Sharia analysis, specialists in world heritage centers and chief critical editors and catalogers.
