CAIRO - 16 August 2017: The director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Dr. Mostafa el-Feki, announced that the BA has started holding a number of courses on Arab and Islamic Culture at different branches of Misr Public Library.

This came as an agreement with Ambassador Abdel Raouf el-Reedy, Egypt's former ambassador to the U.S., and Chairman of Board of Misr Public Library.

According to BA’s website, the series of courses began at the Minya branch of the library, and it is planning to continue expanding the courses at the branches in Damanhur, Port Said, and Ismailia.

Each course consists of a number of lectures covering a wide range of subjects, such as the Arabic language, Arabic literature, architecture, arts, Coptic culture, Islamic studies, history and philosophy.

These courses are organized as part of the BA’s program to counter extremism by bridging the gap for younger generations regarding these important topics and to help them interact with literary, cultural, and intellectual figures. By the end of every course, the BA will grant participants a number of books about the topics tackled in the course's lectures.
