CAIRO – 13 August 2017: The Minister of Culture Helmy El- Namnam inaugurated the third Cairo International Calligraphy Festival at the Palace of Arts on Thursday, August 10, until to August 24.

The Cultural Development Fund Sector led by Ahmed Awad has organized this edition of the festival, named after the calligrapher Sheikh Mohammed Abdul Qader
The minister of culture has expressed his pleasure with the quality of calligraphy works that prove how calligraphers love Arabic language.

Around 120 artists have participated in the forum including professional fine artists and calligraphers who were instructed to use the calligraphy in their fine arts work to encourage young calligraphers to use their imagination and create new calligraphies.

The forum has developed greatly as participating calligraphers included those who can speak Arabic and those who cannot, said ElNamnam.

The skills and paintings of artists and calligraphers will be presented in this edition along with international scientific symposia and workshops on the development of calligraphy.
Many artists have been honored in this forum such as the Egyptian artist Ahmed Moustafa.

The honoring ceremony will be held in the small hall of the Cairo Opera House on Monday, August 14.
