Egyptian star Ahmed Hatem participated in the inaugural panel discussions of "For Her, With Her Fund" initiative launched by the British Embassy in Cairo.

The initiative's primary objective is to support the fight against gender-based violence in Egypt, and Ahmed Hatem serves as the social affairs ambassador for the initiative, which seeks to reinforce existing efforts in Egypt.

The event was attended by the UK’s Ambassador to Cairo, Gareth Bayley, as well as Fiona Hodgson, Baroness Hodgson of Abinger, who serves as the co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security.

During his speech, the British ambassador expressed his gratitude to Ahmed Hatem for his participation in the For Her, With Her Fund initiative and for taking on such a significant responsibility in combating violence against women.

According to Bayley, Ahmed Hatem is the man who will carry the message to other men, youth, and boys, encouraging them to respect women and girls everywhere.

Hatem conveyed his gratitude to the British ambassador and the initiative’s leaders for entrusting him with such an important mission and for their confidence in his abilities. He commended their dedication and sincerity in pursuing the initiative's objectives on the ground, as well as the appropriate financial support they have provided to ensure its success.

In conclusion, he emphasized that "the time has come for men to support women...the time has come for change to start from the man.

" He pledged his full commitment to the initiative, stating, "Therefore, I am here with you in this initiative, and I will go to great lengths to ensure its success and work tirelessly to raise awareness among as many people as possible."

The For Her, With Her Fund has two main axes: Prioritizing prevention by addressing the root causes — along with reducing the prevalence and tolerance — of gender-based violence and supporting survivors by strengthening availability and specialism in service provision for survivors of gender-based violence.

The fund will provide grants to women-focused organizations or NGOs operating in Egypt with the express purpose of eliminating gender-based violence, supporting survivors, and reaching all segments of society, including rural and underserved communities.
