CAIRO – 17 July 2017: Legendary writer and director George A. Romero has passed away on Sunday, after an aggressive battle with lung cancer, Los Angeles Times has confirmed.

“He died in his sleep after a brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer,” producing partner Peter Grunwald told the Times. His family added that “he died while listening to the score of one his favorite films, 1952’s “The Quiet Man,” with his wife, Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero, at his side.”

George is known for his zombie movies, such as “Night of the Living Dead”, “Dawn of the Dead”, “Day of the Dead”, “Diary of the Dead”, “Land of the Dead”, and “Survival of the Dead”.
