CAIRO – 1 December 2022: On November 30 and under the title “Excerpts from Islamic Art”, the Royal Chariots Museum opened a temporary archaeological exhibition on Islamic art, as part of the celebration of the International Day of Islamic Art, which falls annually on November 18.

Director General of the Museum Ahmed Al-Sabbagh indicated that the exhibition will run until December 28, and will display a group of four distinct artifacts from the museum's collections. A documentary film on the history of Islamic art and the most prominent artifacts displayed in the museum will also be screened.

The exhibition includes two candlesticks with a triangular base containing seven bulbs, and a blue vase in the middle with a copper base that has a drawing of plant leaves and legs with animal shapes.

Additionally,  an incense burner made of brass comes among the artifacts. It is a large cup with two handles in the shape of vegetal branches, topped with a separate burner for placing incense, and a bell-shaped lid with holes above it. This is in addition to a dark pink carpet with floral and geometric motifs depicting the character of Islamic art.
