CAIRO – 28 November 2022: The 2nd Cairo Francophone Film Festival will kick off on November 28 at the Cairo Opera House. The festival will run until December 2.

The festival will screen a large number of films that represent the most important and latest cinema productions in the Francophonie member states.

The festival celebrates French-speaking culture by screening feature-length and short films, in addition to documentaries from member states of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF).

In its 2nd edition, the festival welcomes many of the most important French-speaking artists, diplomats and specialists.

Headed by Yasser Moheb, the festival aims to strengthen the creative ties between Egypt and the different countries of the French-speaking world, through its various programmes.

These programmes include numerous cinematographic and cultural activities and presentations of the best cinematic experiences in French-speaking countries, in addition to discussions, dialogue sessions, workshops and professional programmes related to the film industry.

The organisers note that the second edition of the festival will take the Egyptian public and filmmakers on a journey through the screens of exhibition halls, initiatives and round tables at the heart of the French-speaking film industry and its arts.

The festival's inaugural edition took place in December 2021, screening 23 feature, documentary and short films from 10 countries. They were presented in two competitive segments: Feature Narrative and Documentary Films Competition, and Competition for Narrative & Documentary Short Films.
