Umm Kulthum Museum opens free of charge to celebrate 50 years of Egyptian, Emirati relations

CAIRO – 26 October 2022: Within Egypt’s celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the launch of diplomatic relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, and for its pioneering role in strengthening relations between the two countries, Egypt’s Minister of Culture Nevine el-Kilani agreed to open the Umm Kulthum Museum affiliated to the Cultural Development Fund sector, for visitors free of charge during the period from October 26 to 28.

 

 

 

 

Umm Kulthum's visit to the UAE in 1971 represented an important historical and cultural event in the history of relations between the two countries, which coincided with the announcement of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding of the United Arab Emirates. Kulthum’s first concert was held in the presence of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and a group of dignitaries in the United Arab Emirates on the evening of November 28, 1971.

 

 

 

 

Umm Kulthum’s Museum is located in Al-Rawda area in Manial, inside a hall attached to the Manasterly Palace. The museum has an area of 250 meters. It was officially opened on December 28, 2001.

 

 

 

 

The museum exhibits Umm Kulthum’s personal belongings and a significant amount of rare pictures.
