CAIRO – 21 September 2022: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Nevine el-Kilani, and Minister of Culture of the Republic of Albania Elva Margariti witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the two sides in the cultural and creative fields, in the presence of Ambassador of Egypt to Albania Mohamed Haider.

The cooperation protocol was signed as part of Kilani’s participation in the activities of the Egyptian-Albanian Cultural Week, which is being held in the Albanian capital Tirana, under the auspices of the Albanian prime minister, during the period from September 19 to 25. The protocol was signed by Head of the General Egyptian Book Organization Haitham el-Hag Ali and the director of the Albanian Opera House.

Commemorative shields were also exchanged between the Egyptian and Albanian ministers of culture, during the proceedings of the press conference, which was held after the signing of the protocol.

In the conference, Kilani emphasized the strength of relations between the two countries, which was deepened by the visit of former Albanian President Ilir Meta to Cairo in 2019. She pointed out that the protocol includes various means of cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two sides in numerous fields of cultural cooperation.

This participation comes as a culmination of activating the cooperation frameworks that were agreed upon by the Egyptian and Albanian sides in many fields, during the visit of Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama to Cairo in October 2021, which resulted in the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding and cooperation protocols in the cultural field.
