CAIRO – 19 June 2022: Malaysia has joined the list of countries that decided to ban the public screenings of the new Disney movie "Lightyear," following Disney's refusal to remove the scene containing a same-sex kiss, according to the report published on Mashable.

Subsequently, Disney's film was banned in 14 Arab countries, including 12 countries that will have access to the Disney Plus platform, according to the report published on wsj website.

"Lightyear" sparked controversy upon its release in theaters around the world on June 16, due to a scene containing a same-sex kiss.

Although the film was banned in a number of Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, a group of 84 international critics managed to watch the film before its official release. They gave the movie an 84 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
