Egypt’s Adolf El Assal takes part in the Arab Film Festival Rotterdam with ‘Full Memory’ movie

Egyptian/Luxembourgish director Adolf El Assal announced the screening of his new short feature film FULL MEMORY within the events of the Arab Film Festival Rotterdam which takes place from the 15th to 19th of June. The screening will be on Saturday, June 18 at 02:30 PM (GMT+2) at the Lantaren Venster theatre.

Most recently, Adolf El Assal had two films of his co-productions screened at the Cannes Film Festival; PAMFIR and BEANIE. In addition, El Assal collaborates with a number of international stars such as Tua El Fawwal and Kida Khodr Ramadan in his film HOOPED. El Assal has directed five episodes of the Belgian comedy series BARAKI which topped the Netflix views in Belgium.

FULL MEMORY took part in the Dubai Expo 2020. The film had a screening at the Luxembourg Pavilion, which is an art project based on Connecting Minds, by inviting eight artists from seven different artistic disciplines to collaborate in implementing transdisciplinary projects. Adolf El Assal isrepresenting the cinematic specialty.

Starring the Syrian star Mazen Haj Kassem, FULL MEMORY tells the story of Ziad, a young Syrian has left his country during the war ten years ago. He misses his old life and is very excited to have his brother visiting him. Ziad wants to show his brother how life in Europe is but he has to face the dark truth about his past and what has happened to him back home.

Most recently, director Adolf El Assal’s film SAWAH had a very solid international film festival run with over 100 festival selections, reaping 34 awards and topped Netflix list. The events of the film take place in four countries and it is spoken in six different languages. SAWAH stars the Egyptian star Karim Kassem, written by the Indian writer Dennis Foon and directed by Adolf El Assal.

Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Adolf El Assal spent his early life between the UAE, UK, France, and Luxembourg. In 2008, El Assal received his Bachelor degree in Media and Cultural Studies at the Kingston University in the UK. In 2011, he directed the award-winning short films LA FAMEUSE ROUTE, which took part in more than 20 film festivals around the world and received five awards. His short film MANO DE DIOS received two awards within its world tour in film festivals. In 2012, he produced and directed his first feature film LES FAMEUX GARS, that he successfully distributed in the French-speaking countries. El Assal’s second feature film SAWAH had a very solid international film festival run with over 100 festival selections, reaping 34 awards. His upcoming feature film HOOPED is slated for 2023. Adolf El Assal has directed fiveepisodes of the Belgian comedy series BARAKI that was aired in 2021.

Adolf El Assal is also a Berlinale Talents as well as an EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneur) and Screen Leaders Alumni. Adolf is a European Film Academy member and he is working on the creative part of the Luxembourg pavilion at the Expo 2020 in Dubai.
