Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theater announces the participating shows in its 29th edition

The Watching Committees of Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theater (CIFET) -headed by Dr. Gamal Yakout- have viewed the submitted performances. The performances which will take part in the official competition -during the upcoming edition, scheduled to take place between September 1-8, have been chosen.
 
Recently, CIFET announced accepting theatrical performances from various countries and continents of the world to participate in the 29th edition.
 
The deadline for receiving applications was April 14, 2022.
 
Additionally, (55) foreign shows, (90) Arab shows, and (58) Egyptian shows applied for participating in CIFET this year, with a total of 203 theatrical shows.
 
The Watching Committee selected the following performances:
 
The watching committee of the foreign shows includes
director Essam El-Sayed, director and scenographer Omar Al-Moataz Billah, critic Khaled Raslan, and critic Bassem Adel.
 
Furthermore, the Committee has chosen the following shows: (WRONGLAND “Greece”, The Last 15 Seconds “Canada”, White Light “Switzerland”, The Women Soccer Players “Mexico”, Robot “Spain/Poland”, Dust Circus “Brazil”, and Symbiosis “Poland”).
 
Moreover, the committee has placed some shows on the waiting list in case of apology or participation failure.
 
The festival’s management board chose two foreign shows: (Hydráos - “Austria”) directed by Editta Braun and (ILLUSION – “Italy”) directed by Fabio Omudi.
 
Concerning the watching committee of the Arab shows, it includes director Nasser Abd El-Moniem, director Hany Al-Matnawi, writer and critic Rasha Abd El-Moniem, and scenographer Dr. Mahmoud Sabry.
 
The committee selected the following performances: “Menfisto” (Syria), “Al-Tabour Al-Sadis” (Kuwait), “Al-Kumidia Al-Ilahyia” (Tunisia), “Ieadit Dabt Al-Masnaa” (Iraq), “Sha Ta Ra” (Morocco), and “Al-Mandil” (Syria).
 
Furthermore, the committee has placed some performances on the waiting list in case of apology or participation failure.
 
The festival’s management board settled on “Akher Mara” (Tunisia), directed by Wafaa Taboubi.
 
Regarding the watching committee of the Egyptian performances, it includes Dr. Hatem Hafez, Professor of Drama and Criticism, director Hany Afifi, director and choreographer Munadil Antar, and critic Muhammad Musaad.
 
Eventually, the committee chose the following performances to take part in the official competition: “Halawis” directed by Muhammad Abdullah and produced by Hanager Arts Center, and the theatrical dance show “Qital”, choreography and direction by Shaimaa Shoukry and production by Dyer Group for Artistic Production.
 
Additionally, the committee has placed some shows on the waiting list in case of apology or participation failure.
