Construction of much anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum to be completed by June 30, official

CAIRO – 18 May 2022: The Board of Directors of the Grand Egyptian Museum held an important meeting on May 17, at the ministry's headquarters in Zamalek.

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, the General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum project and the surrounding area Atef Moftah reviewed the executive position of the completion of works at the project site, the museum display, insurance and communications systems, the Khufu Ship Museum, the Restoration Center, the power stations, and the surrounding roads and fences. He also reviewed the latest developments in relation to providing and operating the museum's visitor services.

 

 

 

 

Moftah affirmed the commitment to complete all the museum's construction and engineering work no later than June 30, 2022. All the interior finishes, the commercial area and the museum's exhibition of antiquities will be completed on September 30, 2022.

 

 

 

 

For his part, Assistant Minister for Archaeological Affairs at the Museum Al-Tayeb Abbas indicated that the museum’s display scenario is completed by 96 percent in King Tutankhamun Hall. Abbas stressed that heavy artifacts have begun to be placed on their specialized bases in the Main Exhibition Hall, and the final touches are being put to the Great Staircase. According to Abbas, The transport, restoration and installment of antiquities are completed by 98 percent.
