Bibliotheca Alexandrina celebrates its 20th anniversary on May 17

CAIRO – 17 May 2022: On May 17, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina will hold a celebration of the 20th anniversary of its establishment.

The celebration combines musical performances with interventions on issues related to national work. The celebration will be attended by a number of public figures and intellectuals, and will be broadcast live on the Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s official YouTube channel.

Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Mostafa el-Feki siad that the library is strongly entering its 20th year after a hiatus of more than twenty centuries since it was built by Ptolemy I and Ptolemy II.

The celebration includes musical segments presented by a number of prominent Egyptian and international artists, including Ramzi Yassa, Farah el-Debani, Amira Selim, Maryam Abu Zahra and Sherif Mohieldin. The library’s orchestra will be led by Maestro Nair Nagy.

Also, the celebration includes the screening of a short documentary film about the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
