CAIRO – 24 March 2022:  In cooperation with the Supreme Council of Culture and the Arab Music Complex of the League of Arab States, the Egyptian Opera House is organizing an artistic celebration on March 28 at 6 pm at the Institute of Arab Music on the occasion of the Arab Music Day.

This year, the Arab Music Day coincides with the 90th anniversary of the holding of the first Arab Music Conference in Cairo in 1932.

Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem said that the Arab Music Day is a significant occasion to shed light on one of the features of our artistic identity and spread awareness of the importance of heritage.

Abdel Dayem added that the event aims to stretch the horizons of serious musical culture and motivate its creators to strive for its advancement. The minister also pointed out the event's importance in encouraging the concerned sectors to establish various specialized activities to immortalize this color of art in the memory of the younger generations.

The celebration includes a short cultural symposium entitled “Arab Music 90 Years After the First Conference: Reality and Hope.”

It is noteworthy that the Arab Music Day, which is celebrated on March 28 of each year, is an occasion to shed light on music in the Arab world, adopted following the approval of the Council of the League of Arab States in its regular session on March 6, 2019.

The celebration comes as per the initiative of the Arab Music Society and aims at monitoring the reality and conditions of Arab music in its various forms, in addition to observing the musical movement in the Arab countries and its achievements.
