Egyptian Society of Arabesque & Mashrabiya Arts, Gayer Anderson Museum to hold 10th Annual Forum on March 22

CAIRO – 16 March 2022: The Egyptian Society of Arabesque and Mashrabiya Arts, in coordination with the Gayer Anderson Museum, will hold the 10th Annual Forum, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Ministry of Social Solidarity from March 22 to March 24.

 

 

 

 

Head of the Egyptian Society of Arabesque and Mashrabiya Arts Mohammad al-Deeb explained that the events include a photography exhibition, an exhibition of traditional crafts, workshops, lectures on heritage and science, and a heritage concert, noting that Director General of the Gayer Anderson Museum Mervat Selim is chairing the forum's coordination committee.

 

 

 

 

Civil societies for community service, and government sectors, as well as faculties of archeology, fine and applied arts, tourism and hotels of various universities, will participate in the forum. This is in addition to the participation of the General Authority for Culture Palaces, the Chamber of Handicrafts Industry, and the Academy of Arts.

 

 

 

 

Deeb explained that the forum aims to revive the Egyptian heritage, deepen its existence within the conscience of younger generations, highlight our Egyptian-Arab identity, reject extremism, and fight terrorism.

 

 

 

 

Lectures held during the forum will discuss architectural ornaments in Historic Cairo and its various distinctive elements.
