CAIRO – 15 March 2022: Head of the Central Administration of Regional Museums in the Supreme Council of Antiquities' Museums Sector Ahmed Hemeida inaugurated a temporary archaeological exhibition entitled “Descendants of the Builders” at the Sohag National Museum of Antiquities.

The exhibition is held in cooperation with the German archaeological mission working in the Athribis Antiquities Area in Sheikh Hamad.

Hemeida said that the exhibition will run until mid-June and displays a group of materials and tools used in the building operations such as cutting, weighting and leveling machines, as well as a set of hammers, axes and copper tools.

The exhibition also includes a number of photographs taken during lifting and transporting artifacts prior to their restoration, in addition to pictures of some of the archaeological areas in which development work was carried out under the supervision of the Projects Sector.

For his part, Director General of the Museum Alaa Abdel Halim said that on the sidelines of the exhibition, the museum organized a panel discussion entitled “Architects in Ancient Egypt”, which sheds light on the stages of work that took place in the Temple of Seti in Abydos, as well as the work of the joint Egyptian-German archaeological mission working in the Athribis Antiquities Area in Sheikh Hamad.
