CAIRO – 7 February 2022: The Cairo International Forum for Arabic Calligraphy, organized by the Cultural Development Fund Sector in cooperation with the Egyptian General Association for Arabic Calligraphy, announced the participation requirements for its 7th edition, which bears the title "Pioneers Renewed in a Hundred Years (1922 - 2022).”

 

 

 

 

The 7th edition of the Cairo International Forum for Arabic Calligraphy will be held from June 5 to June 20.

 

 

 

 

Head of the Cultural Development Fund Sector Fathi Abdel Wahab said that the Cairo International Forum for Arabic Calligraphy is one of the important artistic events hosted by the sector, and that it aims to consolidate the Arab visual identity through reviving its various artistic forms.

 

 

 

 

Abdel Wahab described Arabic calligraphy as a prominent cultural symbol of the Arab and Islamic civilizations, especially in light of its recent inclusion on the UNESCO list of intangible heritage.

 

 

 

 

The conditions of the competition include that the artwork submitted should not have been produced for more than two years ago, and it should be dated. The number of contributions for each participant shall not exceed three artworks, and the participating works should not be more than (100 x 70 cm) and not less than (30 x 40 cm). Submitted works should not have bee previously granted any awards.

 

 

 

 

The main theme of the scientific symposium under the title "The Egyptian School: One Hundred Years of Arabic Calligraphy" comes within the framework of the celebration of the first centenary of the establishment of the School for the Improvement of Arabic Calligraphy in Cairo, which was established by royal order of King Fouad in 1922. 

 

 

 

 

Receipt of works starts from March 1 to March 31.
