CAIRO – 3 February 2022: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem directed that the Umm Kulthum Museum in El-Manial opens free of charge for a week, on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the passing of  Umm Kulthum, who passed away on February 3, 1975.

The UAE National Archive and Library had presented the museum with copies of the book "Umm Kulthum in Abu Dhabi", to be included in the museum's library, allowing readers and researchers to learn about an important station in the life of Umm Kulthum. The book details her trip to Abu Dhabi, and the lyrical creations that she presented there.

The book also documents an important page in the cultural history of the United Arab Emirates and preserves by word and image Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan's reception of Umm Kulthum at Al-Manhal Palace, where he honored her visit and surrounded her with his appreciation.

Umm Kulthum is the most prominent singer in the Middle East. The internationally acclaimed singer was the first woman to be given the title of Egypt’s First Lady.

Furthermore, Umm Kulthum's valuable belongings, including her authentic records and tapes, were moved to the museum that holds her name on the site of Manasterli Palace in December 2001.
