Holy Quran weighing 200 KG spotted at 53rd Cairo International Book Fair

CAIRO – 31 January 2022: An eye-catching holy Quran was spotted in the 53rd Cairo International Book Fair held at Egypt Exhibition and Convention Center in the Fifth Settlement. The Quran is completely written with thread,and is presented by a Syrian team participating in the book fair.

The entire Quran is embroidered on cloth, by means of an embroidery machine, and it consists of 12 volumes. It weighs about 200 kilograms. This method was invented by the calligrapher Maher Hadiri.

It took approximately 12 years to complete this giant Quran.

Some 1067 Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishers and agencies from 51 countries will participate in the book fair.
