CAIRO – 20 January 2022: The Cairo Symphony Orchestra will present a concert led by Italian Maestro Giovanni Pompeo, accompanied by violinist Hassan Sharara, on January 22 at 8 p.m. in Cairo Opera House's Grand Theater.

The concert’s program includes the famous musical “Pictures in the Gallery” by Mussorgsky, one of the classic icons, where he was inspired by Victor Hartmann's plastic exhibition held by the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg in 1874 and used musical vocabulary to express the content of the paintings.

It is noteworthy that the Cairo Symphony Orchestra is the oldest in Egypt, as it was founded in 1959 by the Austrian conductor Franz Lichtour.

Since then, the orchestra has contributed to enriching the musical scene in Egypt by hosting the most famous musicians in the world and working to encourage Egyptian musicians, composers, and instrumentalists.
