CAIRO – 16 January 2022: The opening ceremony of the First International Forum for Fine Art for Sustainable Development, which will last for three days, kicked off at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.

 

 

 

 

The event is held under the auspices of the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, Planning, Economic Development, Culture, Immigration, Egyptian Expatriate Affairs and the Environment, in partnership with the United Nations and the International Society for Contemporary Arts in New York.

 

 

 

 

The opening was attended by Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala Al-Saeed, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Ghada Wali, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova, CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization Ahmed Ghoneim, President of the Shiranda Foundation and President of the Forum Randa Fouad, in addition to a representative of the World Health Organization,a number of ambassadors of foreign countries in Cairo, public figures and Egyptian and international artists.

On behalf of Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Enani, Ahmed Ghoneim gave a speech in which he expressed his happiness with this event and with the confidence the forum’s management placed in the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat to host the forum’s activities, stressing that the role of the museum is not just to display artifacts, but rather to act as a cultural institution and a beacon with cultural, educational and research roles.

 

 

 

 

Ghoneim referred to the fruitful cooperation between the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, Planning, and Economic Development, especially in working along the lines of the state’s strategy for sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030 through policies and measurement indicators.

He stressed that the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is an embodiment of such policies, as it always works to achieve sustainable development goals, through the use of modern technology to display archaeological treasures, raising tourism and archaeological awareness among all segments of society, ensuring the museum is fit to receive individuals with special needs and implementing a recycling policy.

 

 

 

 

It is worth noting that more than 150 artists from 30 countries around the world are participating in the forum. The forum aims to link plastic art with the goals of sustainable development and Egypt's Vision 2030, in addition to adopting the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations, reformulating and presenting them to the public through arts.
