CAIRO – 12 December 2021: The security forces in Egypt succeeded in revealing the circumstances of the discovery of a suspected archaeological head in Nagaa Al-Orouba, affiliated to Qift District, Qena Governorate.

A source revealed that one of the workers responsible for lining the canals in the Qift District found the head of a statue and suspected it is an antiquity.

An argument occurred between the workers, and one of the engineers responsible for the project was informed. When he attended, one of the workers had fled carrying the head, which everyone thought was a precious relic dating back to the ancient Egyptian era.

The security forces came immediately and cordoned off the area, and within less than 24 hours, they were able to arrest the worker, and by asking him, he revealed the location where he hid the head.

A committee will be formed from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to investigate whether the head is a relic or not, the necessary report will be drawn up on the incident and the Public Prosecution will be notified to conduct investigations.
