CAIRO – 17 October 2021: On October 17 at 5 p.m., a celebration titled “A Day in Cairo” will be held at Al-Sennari House on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the founding of the “Cairo Biography” initiative.

The program of the celebration includes various artistic segments, the screening of a short film about the history of the city of Cairo, and a heritage panorama [Culturama] of the most famous Coptic and Islamic landmarks of Cairo. This is in addition to a presentation on the initiative’s achievements.

On the sidelines of the celebration, "Cairo through the Eyes of the 3rd Millennium", an exhibition of the photographs of pioneering Cairene photographers, will be inaugurated. Also, "Cairo in a Microcosm" will exhibit the works of three prominent Egyptian artists.

During the celebration, a number of officials who contributed to shedding light on the city's heritage will be honored. This comes within the framework of efforts to preserve archaeological sites, and spread awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

The "Cairo Biography" initiative is one of the independent youth initiatives, which aims to preserve archaeological sites, document Cairo's neighborhoods, and introduce and raise awareness of the city's heritage through multimedia.

Last Ramadan, the initiative launched the program “From its Paths” to document in each episode an area in Historic Cairo.
