CAIRO - 15 October 2021: Once again forming one of the most unique parts of the festival, Gemini Africa’s CinemaTech Track Pitching Event returned to El Gouna, Red Sea, with some of the most innovative Egyptian and African entrepreneurs in tow.

Launched last year by the Cairo-based, Africa-focused investment firm, the CinemaTech Track seeks to establish and maintain a link between the world’s of entrepreneurship and filmmaking offering startups working in and around the cinema industry a platform to showcase their tech-powered innovations to an ecosystem that hasn’t given cinema its fare share of the pie.

This year, 10 entrepreneurs were invited to TUB to pit their wits against a judging panel featuring CEO of Geminia Africa, Adly Thoma; actress and producer, Saba Mubarak; director, Ramy Rizkallah; CEO of Egyptian production company, Lagoonie Group; actress, Amina Khalil; and Onsi Sawiris, co-founder of US-based tech investment firm, HOF Capital.

In front of a crowd of filmmakers and actors, entrepreneurs and investors, three of the competing startups were chosen as winners; virtual reality experience specialist, StepInside, took first place, followed by IntMedia in second and Quad-A in third.

The three startups sit on the cusp of taking things to the next level, as the ecosystems of both the cinema industry and the tech industry look towards them for the next big leap in filmmaking.
