Egypt’s superstar Menna Shalaby serves as GFF Feature Narrative Competition juror

CAIRO - 4 October 2021:El Gouna Film Festival announced  some of the brilliant minds in cinema for this year's jury.

 

Emmy-nominated actress Menna Shalaby will be the Feature Narrative Competition juror, and acclaimed directors Kamla Abou Zekry and Tamer Ashry will be part of the Short Film Competition jury.   

 
 
Shalaby made her silver screen debut in 2001 in Radwan Al Kashef’s ‘The Magician’.
 
She has worked with some of Egypt’s most iconic directors such as Mohamed Khan & Youssef Chahine.
 
Shalaby was recently nominated for an International Emmy Award for her role in ‘Every Week Has A Friday’.  
 
Competition Jury  Ashry's debut feature length film ‘Photocopy’ was screened internationally and won numerous awards including Best Feature Narrative at GFF in 2017.
 
 
Celebrated as the female voice of Egyptian TV and cinema, Kamla Abu Zekry made her feature debut with ‘One Year Con’, followed by critically acclaimed films ‘Malek We Ketaba’ and ‘An El Ishk Wel Hawa’. She has tackled the subject of female inequalities and hardships in Egypt with several projects such as ‘Wahed Sefr’ and ‘Segn El Nesa’.
