1993 - More than 20,000 people are killed in an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale in the southwestern Indian state of Maharashtra.

 

 

1999 - A nuclear accident occurs at a uranium processing plant in Tokaimura, Japan.

 

 

2020 - Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is sworn in in a special session held by the National Assembly, becoming the 16th Emir of Kuwait.
