Important world events:

 

 

1916 - The US government issues the "Jones Act" in which it promises to grant independence to the Philippines.

 

 

1918 - Puritan socialist Vanya Kaplan attempts to assassinate Soviet President and leader Vladimir Lenin, because she sees him betraying socialism.

 

 

1955 - The end of the Aix-Liban negotiations between representatives of the Moroccan national movement and the French authorities at the end of the French protectorate over Morocco.

 

 

2015 - ISIS partially blows up the Temple of Bel in Palmyra.
