CAIRO – 26 August 2021: The German Embassy in Cairo issued a statement in relations to the news that circulated about Mohamed Ramadan receiving an honorary doctorate from the German Cultural Center in Lebanon.

The German Embassy in Cairo wrote a statement on its official Facebook account, stating: “We are always flattered to see the amount of people that like the word 'German', but keep in mind that not all institutions or companies that offer or use the word 'Germany/German' are approved and affiliated with the German government. There is no connection between the German government and the so-called German Cultural Center in Lebanon.”

The German Embassy in Egypt uploaded the statement on its official Facebook account after Ramadan uploaded a set of photos of him on his personal account on Instagram while receiving the so-called honorary doctorate, commenting: “Thank you Your Excellency the Lebanese Minister of Culture, the President of the Musicians Syndicate and the Lebanese Actors Syndicate, for granting me an honorary doctorate in acting and singing performance, and thank you to the German Cultural Center in Lebanon for granting me the title of “Arab Youth Ambassador.”

It is worth mentioning that Ramadan’s latest work in drama is the series “Mousa”, which aired during Ramadan 2021. The series stars Somaya el-Khashab, Sayed Ragab, Riyadh el-Khouly, Heba Magdy, among others. It is written by Nasser Abdel Rahman and directed by Mohammed Salama.
