The brand-new initiative launched by Marché du Film and Cinando has been designed to bring together Festivals, markets, sales agents, distributors, film institutes, and service providers from all over the world to connect and network.

El Gouna Film Festival co-hosted the networking event at Plage des Palmes, to support this important    global industry event and celebrate their 5th anniversary of showcasing new cinematic storytelling from the Arab world and bringing the most exciting world cinema to audiences in Egypt.

Following a year of major disruption to the Festival calendar and extraordinary challenges faced by the industry due to the global pandemic, this event was a much-needed celebration of cinema and the perfect opportunity to bring together international filmmakers and industry professionals from around the world to champion and promote Festivals.

Jérôme Paillard, executive director of the Marché du Film, commented: “Recognizing the key role that film festivals and markets play in the promotion and circulation of films around the world, we have decided to take our commitment one step further by creating a physical space within the Palais, the ‘Festivals Hub’, designed to be THE meeting place for all things festival related. To celebrate the launch of this new space, we are thrilled to collaborate on a joint cocktail party with El Gouna Film Festival to welcome all festivals and markets from around the world and to share the joy of being brought together again this year.”

GFF director, Intishal Al Timimi explained: “We are thrilled to co-host this event to support the ‘Festivals Hub’, it’s the perfect platform to bring all the festivals together to unite through our shared love of cinema. Film festivals are the beating heart of our industry, they enable us to experience a rich diversity of voices, explore new cultures and celebrate creativity. The last 12 months with so much uncertainty, have taught us together as an industry we are stronger and more aware than ever of the transformative power of the cinema experience to connect and inspire us.”
