CAIRO – 21 June 2021: On June 21, many important events took place.

 

 

 

Important world events:

 

 

217 BC - Carthaginian forces led by Hannibal ambushed and defeated the Roman army led by Gaius Flaminius at the Battle of Lake Trasimene during the Second Punic War.

 

 

1318 - The Battle of Al-Bireh takes place in Granada between the Castilian Christians and the Muslims. At the end of the battle, the Muslims were victorious.

 

 

1824 - Egyptian forces seize the Greek Psara Island located in the Aegean Sea, during the Greek War of Independence.

 

 

1940 - German forces take control of the entire French territory during World War II.

 

 

1941 - The fall of Damascus to the British and Free French forces. During the following days, the Allies extended their control over Syria, and the forces of the Vichy French government surrendered under the Armistice of Acre, which was later signed on 12 July.

 

 

1942 - General Erwin Rommel attacks British forces in Tobruk, Libya and defeated them. More than 30,000 British soldiers surrendered to German forces.
