Egypt’s ‘Curfew’ movie garners four awards from Egyptian Catholic Center for Cinema Festival

CAIRO - 12 June 2021: The 69th edition of Egyptian Catholic Center for Cinema Festival kicked off on June 11.

Egyptian movie “ Hazr Tagwel” (Curfew) movie garnered four awards from Egyptian Catholic Center for Cinema Festival.

 

The first award is the Best Actress Award which was granted to Elham Shahin, the Best Director Award went to Amir Ramses, the Best Movie Award and the Artistic Creativity Award which was granted to Kamel el Basha.

Amir Ramses’s last feature film “Curfew” has been selected to be screened in the 24th edition of Shanghai international film festival , one of the 15 Fiapf accredited festivals around the world set from june 11th till june 20th as part of the belt and the road program , after it recently won the audience award in Malmo arab film valued with 25 thousand swedish crowns.

 
The film had world premiered in the official competition of the 42nd edition of Cairo international film festival where it had full house screenings as well as wining the best actress award for acclaimed actress Ilham Chahine for her role in the film, also screened in other festivals like Jerusalem Arab Film Festival and Pune international film festival india 
Set in Fall 2013.
 
Curfew follows the story of Faten, who was released from prison after serving two decades due to committing a horrible crime.
 
The curfew declared during that time forces Faten to spend one night with her daughter, Laila, who faces her mother with a second trial in search of answers.
 
The night passes with both women trying to accept one another.
 
 
 
The film stars Elham Chahine, Kamel El Basha,Amina Khalil, Ahmed Magdy, and Mahmoud Elleithy.
 
While the crew is led by; DOP Omar Abu Doma, art director Assem Ali, costume designer Nahed Nasrallah, editor Heba Osman and music composer Tamer Karwan.
 
Curfew is a joint production between Red Star Films, S Productions, Team One Productions, The Cell Post-production and is written and directed by Amir Ramses.
 
 
 
 
 
About Amir Ramses
 
 
 
Amir Ramses is an Egyptian director, who graduated from the Higher Institute of Cinema in 2000.
 
 
He initially worked as an assistant director in several films with international Egyptian director Youssef Chahine.
 
 
His films toured many acclaimed film festivals; earning him several Arab awards.
 
His documentary, Jews of Egypt, participated in Palm Springs Film Festivals, Montreal International Film Festival, Hamburg Film Festival, among others.
 
 
His feature film Cairo Time was the opening film for the Arabian Nights Program, at the 2014 Dubai International Film Festival.
 
 
Ramses has been appointed as the artistic director of the El Gouna Film Festival since its first edition.
